Today, I had Oatmeal with Chia seeds, and soy milk for breakfast. Leftovers on the fridge, for lunch. A RedBull, for snack as well as eating my sisters personal stash of Granola….Ooops!
Anyways, back to the music side of things.
I edited some parts for a song called “The Evil That Men Do”. I`m actually not sure if this is a cover song or what. Being that Chris usually has pretty catchy melodies.
So, I was asked by him to do a couple things through email.
And then I sent off the mix, to him.
Now just to wait for him to respond.
That`s all things bliss for now!
Today we mastered a track called “Fart Short”. Which is a English version of the Japanese Fart song which Chris asked us to elongate. So that Youtube will pickup the song, so he can profit from the ads.
Chris visited us a couple weeks ago, while he visited Japan. We worked on some mixing of a few of his tunes (as well as recording vocals) that we had on the back burner.
We are still in coherts with Chris Commander/Ekral/Larke. Who has been using us for more than five years ago. He has been using us for mixing, recording, & Mastering.
Today was one of those days. Mastering. He wired us money through Paypal.
We wish you all the success you can get Chris!
We are also looking forward to working more with you in the near future.
We will soon have Alika Arroyo over for recording sometime soon. We are just waiting for his schedule to open up and let us know when he wants to schedule a session with us.
Wishing you both the best for all your musical endeavors.
YOU! Yes you! I don
t know who I`m reaching or who I`m talking to, but here goes with another blissful post.
Today I awoke to many jobs in the studio. First off, it is damn hot right now in Japan, even though things ARE starting to get cooler. Today was hot, so I was able to sit in an air conditioned control room.
We had Chris Larke over for a recording session. Edited some parts for his song`s in the works.
We recorded vocals, edited, with Cakewalk`s Sonar 8.5 Producer edition. Using Waves plugins.
And we also worked on a job given us from DJ Ali, from Nagoya. He sent me Stems to a song, I changed the pitch as well as fixed things that were not in the right key, as well, as changing speed on files.
We are also working on a punk rock tune called “My left foot big toenail is dead”. It`s about how the left toenail on your foot gets saved by the toenail on your foot. Kind of a comical tune.
We are waiting for the band leader to call us and tell us that it is a good mix.
Many times we like to mix without having others mention anything about it. But recently, we
ve been getting lots of petitions, about the mixes we have been sending off. I guess I`m basically tied to this studio.
That`s all things blissful for now.
Tommorrow I head off to an ice-cream company`s tour for free ice-cream with my little family. Should be fun!
Or more like fusioning out our ears!!!
He is so cool. He brought me some cookies that he usually brings. I mean he doesn`t have to do it. Because he pays for his time at the studios.
But being the nice gentleman that he is, and not to say a very accomplished fusion guitar player, he is a very nice guy as well.
He lives in Japan, and asked me in about a month in advance before entering the studios.
Yes! We used the Black lion audio BLA 173 into the PBC6a, into RME converters, and Skip also brought over his own tube warming device.
I don`t remember the name right now, but it sure boosted the sound. And we also used the Damage control Womanizer. He mentioned how it sounded great.
Overall we had a blast in the studio. He just asked for water, and we gave it him.
In the winter, we give out clients warm coffee. In the summer like now, we offer ice cold water.
s whats bliss rite now.
Recently I`ve been postponing posting. Sorry about that!
These days I have finally been feeling like life is worth living, and that I have energy now to blog.
Recently, in the studio I have been working on editing for DJ Ali, Michael Jackson`s tune “Beat it”. He edited the song himself, but working in the Professional enviroment with tools like Sound forge, you can get more surgical edits. which is what I have been up to recently for stillbliss. Also transposing the track from Eb to C.
I have also been in Contact with our good ol` client Chris Larke/Commander/Ekral.
He is asking us to mix a track of his, by sending us the Stems and telling us what to do by text.
We also mastered one of his trax as well.
Well thats everything bliss.
For the next few days I am free as a bird. Which is something I have been looking forward to for quite a while.
Ok folks! Keep it Bliss!!
They are my band members, and good clients.
We recorded vocals, Tamberine, congas, And claps, and shouts.
Overall it was a fun session. We had the manager of our band sing parts too. He`s on the very left in the recording booth shots.
We recorded for about half a day. Took two breaks.
They bought me a monster energy drink for compensation.
They are a punk rock band, that had their drums, bass and guitars tracked in a commercial studio in Tokyo.
We are recording vocals at this studio, because it would take too long and the budget for the band would go way beyond their budget.
So they came out here with their main leader by car and that`s all I have to say for now.
Enjoy the picture!
Today from 11:30 am, we worked with Yui. From the band Slingshotmillion2, which I am also the lead guitarist for.
We recorded Vocals. And mixed and had some fun with filters and distortion, and flangers.
We are using the waves Power pack, as well as Auto tune, by Antares.
We are using Sonar Producer edition 8.5.
This is for the band`s mini album that had the drums, guitars, and bass recorded at a higher end studio. With Neve and SSL preamps.
But the vocals we are doing here at Stilbliss.
I guess that
s what`s bliss right now.
This song is called “The evil that men do”. And Chris sent me some donero through Paypal for this job.
I used some C1 comp for some compression, and the Q10 for a high pass filter cutting some lows.
The track was only one sided on the right. So I changed it to mono to get the signal to come out of both speakers.
I do wish it were a stereo track, but I guess you get what you get.
s what weve been up to recently.
Pretty fun no?
Today we got to work with Rock star Yui from the the punk band Slingshotmillion2. We recorded vocals for a new album coming out. We recorded her voice using a Shure Beta 58a. We used the FMR audio PBC6a and BLA 173. Going into RME AD/DA.
On anoter note. We recently have been getting requests for jobs at the studios. I mean, by all means, we would love to work with other engineers and producers. But honestly, there really isn`t THAT many jobs. Just living by myself and getting money, doesn`t mainly come from the studio. Even though I would love to see that happen. Right now, I work for three wedding agencies just to make ends meet. I mean, I don`t mind the wedding industry. But honestly, I really love music, and working in the studio, IS my dream job. So, I believe that anyone wishing to live the life I live can do it. It`s not impossible. Anyways, back onto the session. I sent the Mp3`s unmixed to the bands leader- just because, he wanted to hear how things sound. I personally think that things sound great at Stillbliss. And honestly, people are using us. SO. There you are for success.
We live it!!
And thank YOU for coming to our blog just to see what`s blissful, in Japan. And I guess, what`s new. Come back again. Dear reader. Have a nice day friend!!
Today, I had the privilege to record vocals for Slingshotmillion2`s new single called “Westcoast”. This tune was actually a tune that I personally received, then, our band members made it to a diddly little tune.
I recorded some overlapping vocals six times, through our Shure Beta 58a, through FMR audio`s PBC6a compressor, then through the Black lion audio BLA 173.
I sent an MP3 to our leader for the band Jun. Then if I get the ok from him, then that will be the final mix.
I am using the waves POWER pack. And the L2. The drums , bass, and guitars were tracked through SSL, and Neve pre`s.
Overall a really catchy pop /punk rock track.
It is always fun working in the studio.
We are also waiting for feedback from England based artist Chris Larke/Commander/Ekral. He sent us Stems to mix and add drums to.
He said he wants to finalize some things first before we master the trax.
Anyways, that`s everything blissful for now.
